Friday night at The Parish Hall, The Aquarium (Dischord Records) headline the bill with the Latvian band (yes Latvian) Macjitas on Acid and Cleveland’s Mystery of Two. Some notes of interest, The Aquarium’s drummer, Laura Harris also plays with Benjy Ferree, Mystery of Two’s debut is due soon on Exit Stencil and they’ve started to get some positive reviews, and Macjitas on Acid are f*ckin’ weird. Seriously weird…Also going on Friday night, Columbus’ Tough and Lovely are hosting a cd release party with The Dreadful Yawns at The Beachland Tavern, and Buffalo power poppers, Johnny Nobody are at The Symposium.

Man, if this show wasn’t a Sunday night in Parma Heights show, I would so be there: The Very Knees are headlining The Davenport Bar with Michigan’s Child Bite and Hot Cha Cha. If you haven’t checked out Child Bite yet, and your a fan of the Knees (like myself), then I think you’re going to really dig their trashy, raucous, rock sound.

Every time I go to the HOB I swear to myself that it’s the last time, but then someone like BRMC comes through town and I’m left with no choice. Who knows, maybe one day I’ll go to see a band at HOB and I’ll be so blown away by the band that I’ll forget that the venue blows. Could be this Monday.

One of my favorite bands from 06 are finally making their way to Clevo when Silversun Pickups are bring their big, fuzzy rock and roll music to the Agora Tuesday night with Sea Wolf. This week’s Scene magazine has a great story on this unlikely success story, their acceptance of those nagging Smashing Pumpkins comparisons, as well as their adjustment to the big stage.

Additions:
Wednesday’s Ted Leo cancellation has been rescheduled for October 8th at the Beachland Ballroom.

Blitzen Trapper have been added to the Two Gallants show on September 30th at the Grog Shop, which by my math makes this a killer double bill.
