I’ve been hearing rumors of this move for a while, and now it’s official: Columbus’ Spanish Prisoners have signed to Cleveland’s Exit Stencil Records. If the name sounds familiar, Leo Maymind has played a few shows in town during this past year under the Spanish Prisoners name, and his self-released album, Songs to Forget, received a lot of positive write-ups (including one from I Rock Cleveland) for its endearing mix of lo-fi indie and international folk. The re-packaged release of Songs to Forget will be available on Exit Stencil this coming Spring.
