From today’s Plain Dealer comes word that Jigsaw Entertainment is poised to invest some big money in the Cleveland Agora. Included in its plans are a major renovations to the theater and adjacent club. For those of you scoring at home, the Agora would be the fourth music venue in town operated by Jigsaw. In addition to the Jigsaw Saloon in Parma, the group recently took over operations of Peabody’s in Cleveland and the Hi-Fi in Lakewood. While the fortunes of The Agora have certainly suffered since the opening of House of Blues in downtown Cleveland, is Cleveland really better served by one company controlling so many venues? We will see.

An interesting side note in the article is the fact that Jigsaw attempted to buy out the Beachland Ballroom, but could not reach agreement with its current owners.
