Suppose Rocktober was an official holiday. Well, maybe not the whole month of Rocktober, that’s a lot to ask of our government. Suppose, one day of Rocktober was designated an official holiday. One day out of the year where we would, as a nation, celebrate all things Rock ‘N’ Roll. One day out of the year where it was expected that we, as a nation, would engage in all things Rock ‘N’ Roll – the drink, the drugs, the power, and the volume. One day, where it was expected the following day we would be too hungover to work, and so hungry that we’d have no choice but to ease our pangs with greasy, and oh so tasty, Burger King breakfast sandwiches. What if two days out of the year were designated an official Rocktober holiday? What would the official song of Rocktober be?

I think Neil Young has an answer, or two.

Neil Young – Hey Hey My My

Neil Young – Rockin’ in the Free World

Of course, there’s the little problem of Neil Young being Canadian, and Rocktober being an American holiday. So, something like “Born in the USA” would end up being the official Rocktober anthem, but, suppose, Rocktober was a global two day holiday and we needed two Rocktober anthems…
