I’m still working my way through my initial listen of Dan Auerbach’s first solo album, Keep it Hid, and what can I say? It’s Dan from the Black Keys. It’s gritty, bluesy rock with that same voice, the one of a battle tested, old soul with a prize fighter’s resilience, and the same guitar work: One moment it’s blazing with intensity, and the next, it’s carrying the heft of a thousand heartbreaks.
This time around, he’s got a backing band, and a bunch of friends helping out, including members of Hacienda, and local songstress done good, Jessica Lea Mayfield, and, let’s be honest here, from what I’ve taken in, it’s pretty sweet.
Even sweeter, I’ve teamed with my friends at Sneak Attack Media to offer one of you the chance to win a copy of Dan Auerbach’s Keep it Hid on wonderful vinyl. The gatefold package also includes a cd copy of the album.
In order to enter, please send an email to irockcleveland at gmail dot com with the subject line “Sweet Auerbach Vinyl,” and whether or not you’d like to opt in to his mailing list. It’s simple, really, you can say, “Just the wax,” or “Sign me up.” Either way, you’re entered. The contest will be open one week with the winner being notified via email no later than Wednesday, February 11th.
