At six songs and less than 20 minutes the debut EP by New Zealand’s Surf City is quite the tease. Literally, I can’t get enough of their ragged, jagged, and bouncy lo-fi pop. I can’t get enough of those surf guitars, crisp beats, and that unhinged enthusiasm, punctuated by hearty yelps and honest ooh-oohs. It’s like I’ve been waiting since 1995 for this band and all I’ve got is six songs. Guess I’ll have to content myself with playing the sh*t outta this disc.
