Where to start? Memphis garage-punk, Jay Reatard has a new website at JayReatard.com, and a whole mess of news and tunes he’d like to share. First, as far as releases go, there’s a brand new tune, “You’re Gonna Lose,” available for the price of an email address. Then, there’s the promise of a new Matador album later this year, and just about every piece of his back catalog now available for digital download. Amongst releases from The Reatards, Final Solutions, Lost Sounds, and Terror Visions, is a new 15 song comp, Greatest Messes, collecting some of the finer moments from Reatard’s previous endeavors.
And there’s more. Poke around the new JayReatard.com and you’ll see mention of his re-launched record label, Shattered Records, and its new subscription plan which will deliver Jay’s new Matador Record, all of the 2009 7″ singles to be released on Shattered Records (Box Elders, Useless Eaters, Jeffrey Novak, and Hunx, amongst others), an expanded Greatest Messes collection, and much, much more for $75.
And at the risk of sounding like tv pitchman, Billy Mays, there’s still more. Jay’s announced some summer tour dates, including a stop at the Grog Shop on Sunday, June 28th.
