Even if you find the logic behind the Darlings’ “If This Is Love” to fall under the obvious category — We have a glut of garage rock bands, a glut of lo-fi bands, and a re-emergence of the Nineties, so why not shake all that sh*t up into one ramshackle track — you have to concede that the results of this cross decade experiment are more than promising. Who hasn’t thought to themselves, “Well, this modern garage stuff is okay and all, but just once, just once, I want one of these bands to embrace their inner Barlow and shred like they’re in Sebadoh.” Hell, I’ll say it. This one’s a blast.
