After a 24 hour cycle in which every other item in my RSS reader contained some combination of the words “Holy,” “Sh*t,” “Pavement,” and “Reunion,“ I’ve just received word from Matador Records that the Pavement reunion first reported by Brooklyn Vegan, then re-posted by every other music nerd with an internet connection, is totally, honestly, 100% for real. Tickets for the first reunion gig, September 21st 2010 at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park, will be available for pre-sale tomorrow at Ticketmaster, with other dates to follow. The password for tomorrow’s pre-sale is ZOWEE.

One last note, the official press release is quick to point out that 2010’s Pavement reunion shows will not be a prelude to additional tours or additional recordings. Take that statement for what it’s worth.
