Maybe it was the heat.  Or, it could have been the heat and all the coffee-shop rock playing earlier in the afternoon at Union Park.  Either way, the 2010 Pitchfork Music Festival had a rather sluggish start.  Thankfully, we had Liars and their wildly entertaining frontman, Angus Andrew.  Sporting weather appropriate, short shorts, and a vintage Men At Work tee, dude is to art-rock and dance-punk what Andrew WK is to party rock.  Whether it was head-banging, air-guitar, air-drums he made sure those in the crowd took notice of his expanded, five-piece band.  Granted Liars need no help selling their music when their playing fractured, feedback wrecked dance-punk, but on this night, Andrew made improvisational psychedelic rock, dubby beats, and hip-hop rhythms and howls stand out moments.
