“Year of the Ox,” the latest in a series of singles based on the Chinese Zodiac by Toronto’s daringly diverse, hardcore band, Fucked Up, is streaming now at Pitchfork. It’s 13 minutes of growls, gnarly riffs, and strings. Yes, there’s a string quartet, in addition to backing vocals by indie it-girl, Zola Jesus. This one will be out September 14th on Merge Records with the similarly long, genre-busting B-side, “Solomon’s Song.”
