I don’t know about you, but I love a good play on words, and !!!’s, “Jamie, My Intentions Are Bass,” is one of this dance-punk collective’s best ones since “Me and Giuliani Down by The Schoolyard.” The title can be taken so many ways. Maybe, the vocalist wants to get down with his woman. Maybe, he wants to get down and dirty with his woman and his intentions aren’t really bass, but base. And, maybe, if you’re anything like me, and you spent too much of your youth watching Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoons, and too much of your adulthood doing the New York Times crossword puzzle, he wants to impress his lady friend with some freshly caught fish. Don’t laugh. Man, has done stranger things to impress woman. Are funky bass lines and fresh fish really that extreme when compared to, oh, stadium scoreboard proposals?
