Restless is one way to describe the Cleveland, psychedelic rock band, The Dreadful Yawns. They’re a creative, dynamic, and talented bunch who love to tinker in the studio, write new songs before the old ones have had their time to shine, and perform those new songs when most bands would still be promoting their completed work. Come to think of it, restless may be the best way to describe the Yawns. It’s certainly the most apt adjective for their latest single, the atypical, garage-rock, freak-out jam, “Glitter in Your Hair.” It’s one part coordinated stomp and one part acid improv; Spaceman guitar strings glitter though the into and gyrate through the ending; Delicate moments abut discordant ones; And not one movement sticks around long enough to be savored. This is a song so jittery it can’t hold its own attention span, yet, is still able to communicate one lasting command: Move.

You can expect a new Dreadful Yawns album to drop in the coming months. I don’t have a label, or a firm date, but it is called Picnic and will be showing up in local record stores by the end of this year or early in the next.
