Instead of rounding out the 2012 Pitchfork Music Festival with some big names, the festivals’ organizers have instead chosen to go the reasonably priced volume of artists route.  Considering those same organizers have publicly taken pride in holding ticket prices steady for the three day music celebration in Chicago, this can’t be an entirely surprising developinment.  Still…

You Black Emperor, The Men, and Cloud Nothings on the weekend of July 13th-15th will be all woman, indie rock supergroup, Wild Flag, Deerhunter alter ego, Atlas Sound, veteran New York noisemakers, Chavez, and garage rock upstarts Ty Segall and Thee Oh Sees.  But…

Am I out of line here?  Am I missing something?  Past headliners have included The Flaming Lips, Pavement, TV on the Radio, and Spoon.  Are we really asking Vampire Weekend to close the weekend? 

Oh hell, I suppose I should just be happy with all the rock bands that were added today and be thankful that I can leave the festival grounds early each night.
