Earlier today, Pitchfork announced that The Breeders (playing their album Last Splash in its entirety), And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead, and Swans have all been added to their 2013 festival. This year’s edition, taking place at Chicago’s Union Park from July 19th – 21st, already boasted an intriguing mix of headliners with R. Kelly, Bjork and Belle and Sebastian.
Many lesser known names were also added to the lineup, including El-P, Killer Mike, TNGHT, Chairlift, Sky Ferreira, Rustie, Mac DeMarco, Foxygen, Angel Olsen, Trash Talk, and Tree.
Joanna Newsome will be there, too. I’m trying to pretend I didn’t type that last sentence. Joanna Newsome’s voice is like fingernails and chalkboard to me.
Also announced today, The Forecastle Festival in Louisville, Kentucky (July 12th – 14th) managed to snag The Black Keys, The String Cheese Incident, The Avett Brothers, The Flaming Lips, Alabama Shakes, Jim James (of My Morning Jacket), Animal Collective, and Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, for their weekend bill.
