“Annihilation Affair” is like the first time you heard Torche. Remember those early releases where the band would bang the same sick, heavy chord for what seemed like an entire track, only to quickly follow it up with a two-minute fist-pumping, anthem? “Annihilation Affair” is the former, a track whose sheer heft alone makes up for its lack of movement, a track for which the term bangover was coined, for once you allow yourself to get immersed in its all-encompassing stomp your neck will inevitably snap in compliance with every bludgeoning down beat. Torche’s latest album, the aptly named, Restarter, will be released 2.24 on Relapse Records.
