Please be patient as I Rock Cleveland undergoes a much needed upgrade.
UPDATE: The upgrade is between 90 and 95 percent complete. I still have some minor CSS tweaks to do, but these are more a function of perfectionism than any visible function.
One improvement you should already see is a redesigned navigation system at the top of the screen. All pages and post categories can be found under one of the main menu options. For exa...

This is a big one. Jeff Mangum, he of Neutral Milk Hotel and In the Aeroplane Over the Sea, one of the most beloved albums of the indie rock canon, has booked a January 11th date at the Ohio City Masonic Temple on Franklin Blvd. This show is sure to sell out and if it is like any of his recent gigs, it will leave a lasting impression on all of those in attendance. He is god, after all, and when you're not allowed cameras, cell phones...

Do you want to score a pair of tickets to see new wave noisemakers, A Place to Bury Strangers, Thursday, November 15th at the Beachland Ballroom? It's simple, really. Click this email link, send that email, and you'll be entered for a pair of tickets to the show courtesy of your buds and I Rock Cleveland and the Beachland Ballroom. Alternately, you can simply make your own email without the fancy link business, address it to IRoc...

Rockers,
The I Rock Cleveland Headquarters has been without power since Wednesday morning. Expect updates to be as scarce as a First Energy line truck in Cleveland until that time the juice comes back. They say, most of not all power should be restored to customers in Cleveland and Cuyahoga County by Monday.
Really, I should have seen this coming. Tuesday, afternoon, I bragged about storm chasing, and how despite the danger, I ...

This weekend I'm hitting the road to Asbury Park for the All Tomorrow's Parties Music Festival curated by Portishead. And while I won't be able to travel with a photographer (ATP is a "boutique festival" and press is limited and I'm not Pitchfork or Rolling Stone or NPR or whomever is important enough these days; I've already blown my yearly budget on a website that doesn't make money and can't afford to pay a photogr...

I Rock Cleveland has undergone a series of security upgrades today. Please contact me either through a comment or at the email address listed in the About section of the website should you encounter any problems like webpages not loading, comments being denied, images not loading, etc. I assure you that I wouldn't be f'n with the code if I didn't need to be f'n with the code. Being hacked by boner pill sellers for the third tim...

Hey Rockers!
This Sunday I'll be at the Beachland Tavern from 11 until 3 with a couple big boxes of vinyl as I dj their Sunday Brunch. As usual I'll have a wide mix of jams from the '60s and '70s on through present times. Included will be some punk, pop, power pop, Brit-pop, garage rock, grunge rock, indie rock, college rock, noise rock, and just plain rock. I've been a good consumer of late, so there will surely be a surprise ...

Before I sign off until the new year, I'd like to say Merry Xmas everybody, Happy Festivus, Feliz Navidad, Prospero Ano and all that. Remember, if you plan to air your grievances on this, the greatest day of Festivus, don't go too far with those complaints. Not all of your friends and family members may be familiar with Festivus tradition, and to them, listing all the ways in which they've disappointed you in the past year may ...

As in past years, I'll be taking I Rock Cleveland on the road to Chicago for the Pitchfork Music Festival. This year, I'll be joined by the talented Mara Robinson, who will be photographing mega-giga-bytes of action all weekend long. Our tentative schedule has us taking in performances by Modest Mouse, Broken Social Scene, Wolf Parade, LCD Soundsystem, Titus Andronicus, The John Spencer Blues Explosion, and of course, the reunite...

This is a quick message to let you know that due to family matters and a definite need for some clear my mind time, I'll be away from the blogosphere for the next few days. You may get a review or two out of me this week, but in all likelihood the next update won't be posted until next Monday.
Yours in Rock, Bill.

We've already talked about some of the prime limited-edition vinyl being released to coincide with Record Store Day 2010, but there's more to the holiday than buying music. It's also a celebration of music culture. Both Blue Arrow Records and Music Saves will be hosting free in-store performances throughout the day. The action starts with members of White Hinterland dj-ing at Music Saves at 4:30 and Will Rigby of the dB's d...

First, a big thank you to the Beachland and Team Music Saves for inviting me out to DJ the Hold Steady pre-show party in the Tavern. Also, an equally big thank you for those of you who took time away from their booze to come over and say hi. I truly appreciate your positive feedback. As many of you know, I don't get paid to write this website and I rarely get paid to DJ. I do it for you, and for the Lowenbrau. I can't forget the...
